Eco project by 6b

Eco is the word you are all familiar with and you associate it mostly with recycling. Recycling is easy. Anyone can recycle, so can you. Don't throw plastic bottles, bottle tops or plastic bags into nature. They polutte our environment and stay there for a long time. But, they also, as we learned in the lesson Animal killers, Building Bridges 6, can kill many animals.

6b class decided not to throw plastic bottle tops into nature or waste bins. Instead, we collected them at home. We started in December, 2012. In March, we brought all the bottle tops to school and made a class project.

Students worked in three groups. The first group did the picture of a sunset made from plastic bottle tops with the message: Don't throw plastic bottle tops on the beach and into water because the birds like albatrosses think it is food so they eat it and choke.

Another group made jellyfish from plastic bags with a similar message: Do not throw plastic bags into water because dolphins  play with them and turtles think they are jellyfish, eat them and suffocate.

The third group made a poster with eco tips on how to save our planet for the future generations. You can see it in our English classroom throughout April.
